The Cost of Life

Updated: Jun 30, 2020

It is the law of nature that plants recycle by the dying of the seeds in the ground to sprout to new life. The dying of the seeds in the ground renew the life of the coming new plants. This death recharges the seeds for  new lives. This same rule of dying to live applies to human beings also. If our physical life has to change to spiritual life, this physical life has to die. We each have one physical and spiritual life. In order for us to live the spiritual dimension of our life, our carnal human nature must die.

The cost of life is death. It is the costliest art of living. Plants pay the price of the seeds dying in the ground to sprout to new life. Jesus sacrificed his life to buy us new life. The death of Jesus is a sacrificial death for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus Christ died for us and rise from the death and opened the way for us to new life.

Who is not willing to live the costliest life? To live the costliest life death is required. Believing in Jesus we can die to sins and live a new life of holiness. We have to sacrifice our debased human nature to gain new life. We have to trust that all our weaknesses/shortcomings are forgiven in Jesus. We now have to depend on Jesus as our new source of life. Just as the seeds die in the ground and sprout to new leafs and life, so also our sinfulness has to be buried/cast away and we have to turn new leafs in Christ.

There are religious practices of sacrificing animals and agricultural products to acquire new life and blessings. But new life and blessings has to be obtained through the costliest sacrifice, which is the sacrifice of Jesus. The cost of life in this world is getting higher each day. We cannot afford many things in life. We live simple lives because we cannot afford to live the other way. Majority of the world’s population cannot afford the cost of daily living in today’s consumeristic and individualistic world. But the poorest in the world can afford the costliest price of life through Jesus. The most sinful can attain forgiveness and new life in Jesus.

Praise be to God for he has paid for us the highest price of life. He has paid the highest price for our daily happiness. He has paid the highest price for our strength, wholeness and blessedness. We (can) live the life bought for us by Christ. When our physical life ceases we will then attain the full measure of this new spiritual life. We are living a very valuable life!
